2012 NBA Draft Results and Analysis

See our Team Roster and Advisory Board for more information on our team. Below is the Draft Results analysis we have compiled for the 2012 NBA Draft which took place on June 28, 2012 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

2 Michael Kidd-Gilchrist SF Multi dimensional player, will start from day 1
3 Bradley Beal  SG Promising 2g prospect, that some believe is the second coming of Ray Allen
4 Dion Waiters SG Surprise surprise, Cleveland was the team that made a promise to Waiter, They think he's the next Dwayne Wade
5 Thomas Robinson PF Strong, hardworking PF, that has the competitive drive to be great
6 Damian Lillard PG They went with the best pg in the draft, Fetlon era is over Lillard has the keys to the car
7 Harrison Barnes SF They lucked out on draft night, a nice piece to fit in between Steph Curry and emerging star Klay Thompson
8 Terrence Ross SG/SF  Athletic and can shoot it, they must think Demar Derozan is better suited as a 3
9 Andre Drummond PF/C Joe Dumars did his homework and thinks this kid is a future stud despite rocky freshman year at Uconn
10 New Orleans Hornets Austin Rivers SG Reports out of NOLA were they really liked A. Rivers early, Gordon /Rivers backcourt will be interesting
11 Meyers Leonard C They addressed the need for big man, will Leonard develop into a starting caliber center?
12 Jeremy Lamb  SG Lamb may be the steal of the draft, could lead the rookies in scoring
13 Kendall Marshall PG Nash is likely gone, the same up tempo system is in place, this is a nice pick up for the Suns
14 John Henson PF/C Young defensive minded PF, will need to get stronger
15 Moe Harkless SG Iggy must be on the market, Doug Collins has a team of interchangeable parts, Harkless will have to fight for playing time
16 Royce White PF Multi dimensional player that would have been a lottery pick without the off court issues
17 Tyler Zeller C Traded to Cleveland, this addresses Cleveland's need at Center, they have some nice pieces to grow a la OKC
18 Terrence Jones SF Not so sure about this pick here, they just drafted Royce White earlier
19 Andrew Nicholson PF/C Nicholson could see some time if Ryan Andersen leaves via free agency
20 Evan Fournier  SG/SF  Poiters They addressed a need at back up 2g, when will he come over?
21 Jared Sullinger PF Back and conditioning questions caused Sullinger to drop, if healthy Sulley will surprise some people
22 Fab Melo C Melo addresses the Celtics needs for additional bigs, Celtics needed a reliable back up come playoffs
23 John Jenkins SG Jenkins is a stone cold shooter who many don't know, led SEC in scoring
24 Jared Cunningham SG

High flyer who increased his stock during strong individual workouts

25 Tony Wroten Jr. PG/SG   Probably not ready to give them minutes right away, could be some help down the road

Plumlee impressed during the Chicago predraft workouts, plays defense, may find a role off the bench
27 Arnett Moultrie PF Moultrie lasted a lot longer than most people predicted, Philadelphia was considering him with an earlier pick
28 Perry Jones SF/PF Jones III has all the tools to be great, questions surrounding his work ethic and knee made him fall
29 Marquis Teague PG Chicago needs a reliable pg with Rose possibly out for the year, Teague isn't quite ready to fill those, but could be a quality starter down the road
30 Festus Ezeli C Space Eater that will play defense and rebound
31 Jeff Taylor SF Ready to contribute right away, Charlotte will like his defensive minded approach
32 Tomas Satoransky PG/SG  Sevilla One of the higher rated foreign players coming in the 2012 NBA Draft
33 Bernard James PF Athletic big man that blocks shots and rebounds
34 Jae Crowder SF/PF  The Mavs took the money ball approach here, outstanding undersized athlete that will find a way to contribute
35 Draymond Green PF He might not have a true position, but has tremendous basketball IQ, he will carve out a niche somewhere in the NBA
36 Orlando Johnson SG Orlando Johnson was unknown to many, but he has nice size and strength and can put the ball in the basket
37 Quincy Acy PF Athletic big man that is active on defense
38 Quincy Miller PF Quincy Miller was projected as a first round pick, he has some potential and is a project
39 Khris Middleton SG/SF  Detroit has a logjam at SF, If A. Daye goes elsewhere Middleton may see a few minutes
40 Will Barton SG/SF  Active, athletic wing that is undervalued at pick 40
41 Tyshawn Taylor PG Brooklyn traded for Taylor and addressed a need at PG, They better hope D. Williams resigns
42 Doron Lamb SG Shooter that may be able to give them a few minutes at point and let Jennings run off the ball
43 Mike Scott PF The second oldest player drafted, doesn't have the upside of some of the younger PF's but does have some skills
44 Kim English SG Shooters are always welcome
45 Justin Hamilton C Big body that allows Miami to address the size issues at Center
46 New Orleans Hornets Darius Miller  SF Senior SF that was overshadowed by his more revered Kentucky teammates
47 Kevin Murphy SG Utah continues to find value in the second round, Murphy can flat out score
48 Kostas Papanikolaou  SF Greece Kostas Papanikolaou will stay in Europe for now
49 Kyle O'Quinn PF/C Kyle O'Quinn has an impressive showing at Portsmouth and could be a solid backup
50 Izzet Turkylimaz C Turkey Denver takes a flyer on a kid that will be left to develop overseas
51 Kris Joseph SF Another sr. whose stock took a hit by coming back, that's two Cuse to the Celtics
52 Ognjen Kuzmic C Spain Another European big man that will take a few years to develop before coming to the US
53 Furkan Aldemir PF Turkey The Clippers have a lot of bigs under contract, will let him develop in Europe
54 Tornike Shengelia PF Belgium Traded to Brooklyn on draft day. The Nets never had him in for a workout, they will see how much they like him in the summer league
55 Darius Johnson- Odom SG Hard nosed kid, that is undersized at SG
56 Tomislav Zubcic F Croatia Raw prospect but has size
57 Ilkan Karaman PF Turkey Left handed SF, who has some size for the position
58 Robbie Hummel PF Was considered a first rounder prior to Two ACL injuries
59 Marcus Denmon PG/SG The Spurs always find value at the end of the draft, he may find a way to stick around
60 Robert Sacre C Big man that has the size and strength to play in the NBA
